Every Practice Begins with an Experience

Beginning yoga does not require flexibility, physical strength, or previous knowledge.

It begins with a willingness to explore.

Our Beginners’ Course offers a gradual introduction to Kundalini Yoga, allowing students to become familiar with its essential practices and principles through direct experience.

Over nine guided lessons, we explore movement, breathing, relaxation, meditation, and the relationship between practice and everyday life.

The intention is not simply to learn techniques, but to develop an understanding that can grow through continued practice.

Nine Lessons, One Continuing Exploration

1. Breathing and Awareness

An introduction to Kundalini Yoga through conscious breathing, movement, and observation. We begin by exploring how the breath influences our experience and how attention can change the quality of a simple movement.

2. Breath of Fire

A gradual introduction to Breath of Fire, including its basic technique, rhythm, and appropriate precautions. We explore the relationship between breathing, energy, and attention without forcing the practice.

3. Mantra and Sound

An introduction to the use of mantra in Kundalini Yoga. Through sound, repetition, and listening, we explore how the voice can become part of meditation and awareness.

4. Relaxation and the Pause

An exploration of the importance of relaxation within an active yoga practice. We learn to recognize the pause between exercises and observe how the body and mind respond when effort comes to an end.

5. Meditation

An introduction to meditation through accessible practices involving breath, attention, and stillness. Rather than attempting to stop thinking, we begin to observe the movements of the mind.

6. The Navel Center

An exploration of the navel center through movement, breathing, and awareness. We examine its role in traditional Kundalini Yoga practice and experience how different exercises engage the body’s center.

7. Bandhas

An introduction to the basic muscular engagements known as bandhas. We explore their traditional purpose and practical application, with attention to comfort, awareness, and individual limitations.

8. Triangles and Chakras

An introduction to traditional yogic models used to explore the relationship between body, mind, and awareness. These teachings are presented as frameworks for inquiry rather than fixed explanations of human experience.

9. Integration

Our final lesson brings together the foundations explored throughout the course. We reflect on what we have learned and how practice can continue beyond the classroom, becoming part of everyday life.

Learning Through Practice

Each lesson combines explanation with practical experience. Students are encouraged to ask questions, observe their own responses, and develop understanding gradually.

The course follows a progressive structure, but learning is not limited to these nine lessons. Each practice can reveal something different as we return to it over time.
